'The Obedience Class', beautiful painting (oil on canvas, private collection), by Sophie Gengembre Anderson (1823-1903), a French-born British artist, landscape painter and illustrator. Sophie Anderson was an artist specialized in depicting of women and children in rural settings with near-photographic precision and portraits with beautiful details of the human face, one of the few acceptable subjects in England during the Victorian era.
