Beschreibung: Two lovely reproductions depicting 'Our Mother of Perpetual Help' (Our Lady of Perpetual Succour), versions of the famous Byzantine icon of the same name, dating from the 15th century.
The image of Our Mother of Perpetual Help has become the most popular religious icon among Roman Catholics and can be seen in homes, business establishments, and a public transportation. The great majority of the artists of the icons are hidden in anonymity. In the modern reproductions, the face of Our Lady of Perpetual Help seems filled with life, effulgent and with innocent purity, full of compassion look, ready to help her devotees in whatever they need. Jesus is depicted with a noble and kingly face, but looks like a cute little boy with fallen sandal on the right foot, snuggled in the lap of his mother.
In the Eastern Orthodox Church, this artistic iconography is known as the Virgin of the Passion, due to the two Archangels carrying the instruments of the Passion (of the crucifixion) of Jesus Christ.
