Martenitsa is a small adornment, symbol of a good health, made of white and red yarn, usually in the form of two woven threads, tassels or dolls (Pizho and Penda). Wearing of martenitsa is a Bulgarian tradition, related to welcoming the spring, which according to Bulgarian folklore begins on 1-st March and is given as a gift to loved ones, friends and relatives.
