Aniseed toadstool (Clitocybe odora) is a blue-green mushroom that grows near deciduous and coniferous trees, in small groups along the side of tree roots. It is widespread in the temperate zones, occurring in Asia, Europe and North America. The smell of anise may issue the presence of the fungus before it is seen by the eye. This mushroom is edible, but the young specimens should be avoided as can be confused with similar poisonous ones that grow along with this mushroom, as Stropharia aeruginosa (Verdigris agaric).
