The lake Baikal is located in the south of the Russian region of Siberia, between Irkutsk Oblast and the Buryat Republic, near the Mongolian border. It is the oldest (at 25 million years), deepest (with a maximum depth of 1,642 m) and clearest freshwater lake in the world. The lake Baikal, with its 23,615.39 km3, is the most voluminous freshwater lake, containing roughly 20% of the world's unfrozen fresh water.
In winter, the lake Baikal is transformеd to the realm of the great ice and mighty winds, which lead to fascinating phenomena building beautiful and incredible ice formations.
