A bald eagle fishing, photo taken in Kachemak Bay, Alaska.
About half of the world's bald eagles live in Alaska.
The small town Homer in Alaska, located on the shore of the Kachemak Bay within the Kenai Peninsula, surrounded by mountains and the calm water of the bay, is one of a great place for soaring bald eagles photography.
What made the area famous to photographers was Jean Keene, known as 'the eagle lady', who hand fed bald eagles in the Homer area for many years until her death in 2009. Many of the bald eagle photographs in the publications over the past 30 years have come from Homer, featuring one of Jean Keene’s birds.
In many countries, the eagle symbolized absolute power.
Eagles have fantastic eyesight, six times better than a human. Eagles take flight during the day and can easily see the smallest objects in the grass from a bird's eye view (they fly at a great height, not less than 700 meters).
