Almost all Chinese New Year decorations are in red color, the good luck color, believed to scare away spirits of bad fortune, a color with powerful impact on mood. Red represents fire and is the most popular color in China. It is also the national color representing happiness, beauty, vitality, good luck, success and good fortune. Red envelopes are stuffed with money and given as gifts during Chinese New Year. Coins are tied with a red color ribbon.
Other decoration used is Yuanbao, also known as Sycee, an imitation of gold ingots in shape of boats to attract wealth into home or office.
By fish decorations, Chinese people are hoping that in the New Year they will have wealth and prosperity.
