'Copenhagen Mermaid' is a lovely painting (oil on canvas with palette knife) by the Russian-Israeli artist Leonid Afremov (1955-2019), depicting the bronze statue by Edvard Eriksen, of a little mermaid becoming human.
Based on the 1837 fairy tale of the same name by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen, the small and unimposing statue of the lonely girl on the beach, becomes a Copenhagen's icon.
