The common names of the species known as the 'Indian Leafwing Butterfly' (Kallima Paralekta), sometimes 'Malaysian Dead Leaf' or 'Malayan Leafwing', are misleading, since they are not spread in India or in Malaysia, but are endemic to Java and Sumatra of Indonesia. With closed wings, the Indian Leafwing Butterfly closely resembles a dry leaf with dark veins, and is one of the best examples of a natural protective camouflage.
