Lily of the Valley (Convallaria majalis) is a perennial woodland fragrant flowering plant with dozens of sweetly scented, pendent, tiny white bell-shaped flowers and berries, blooming in the late spring and summer. It is used in religious ceremonies, world celebrations, perfumes and in gardens. Also known as the May lily and most often symbolizes chastity, purity, happiness, luck and humility.
All parts of the plant are highly poisonous, including the red berries which may be attractive to children and pets.
