'Steamboat' is an oil painting on canvas with palette knife, by Leonid Afremov, depicting an old steam ship of the 19th century, floating down the Mississippi river, a major part of the New Orleans landscape.
The artist has managed skillfully to portray a spectacular sight with bright sunshine rays on the smooth waters of the Mississippi, a scenery that can be only created at the sunset sun.
All that is depicted in the painting looks very romantic and amazes with color and mood of that era, even with the two streams of smoke rising from the pipes depicted with surprising accuracy.
