The primroses, these small, delicate perennial flowers, typically no more than 10 cm, with unusually vivid blossoms, which vary from white and subtle pastels up to yellow, red, purple and blue, are one of the early signs of the spring. The primrose (Primula vulgaris) is widespread in Britain and Europe. It covers meadows, lawns, gardens and even a shady corner may turn into colourful carpet.
