Wallpaper for 24-th of May, the Day of Bulgarian Enlightenment and Culture, with the two Old-Bulgarian alphabets, the Glagolitic and the Cyrillic. The Glagolitic alphabet was created in 855 by Saints Cyril and Methodius, for translation of liturgical books from Greek into Slavonic, on the base of Bulgarian runic script (lines and dashes). The Cyrillic alphabet appears and is imposed at the Preslav Literary School, during the reign of Tzar Simeon. St. Clement is often regarded as the author of the Cyrillic, adapted Greek alphabet on the phonetic principle and perhaps he calls the new alphabet in the name of his patron.
