 Arc de Triomphe Paris France

Night view of the famous colossal monument of Paris Arc de Triomphe (164 feet tall), situated in the centre of the Place Charles de Gaulle (originally named Place de l'Etoile), at the western end of the Champs-Elysees. The monument was designed by Jean Chalgrin in 1806 and completed in 1836, to commemorate the military victories of Napoleon. Today, it stands as a tribute to those who fought and died for France during the French Revolution and the wars under Napoleon. In its vault lies the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier from World War I.
