A general view of a British countryside in the early 19th century, reproduced by the English film director and producer Danny Boyle, at the Olympic Stadium in Stratford, east London, just before the Opening ceremony of the Summer Olympic Games in London, UK on the night of 27th July, 2012. The opening scene was called 'Green and Pleasant' and represents a little piece of rural life, built on a meadow, complete with real grass and animals, vegetable plantations and beehives, ten thousand volunteers, a working water wheel, pitch with cricket players, dancers, factory workers and chimneys, a grassed hill and landmarks such as the mystical 'Glastonbury Tor', doctors and nurses, even fake rainclouds which produce rain.
