Vladislav Tretiak, the former hockey player and the best goalie during the 1970s and '80s, and Irina Rodnina, figure skater who won three straight Olympic titles, lit the Olympic flame during the Opening Ceremony of the Sochi Winter Olympics on February 7, 2014. Other torchbearers in the final group were tennis star Maria Sharapova, Olympic pole vault champion Yelena Isinbayeva, three-time Olympic champion wrestler Alexander Karelin and Alina Kabayeva, a former Olympic champion gymnast.
