Описание: Great Martyr Tatiana of Rome is venerated as a saint on January 12, for those churches which follow the traditional Julian Calendar, or on January 25 of the modern Gregorian Calendar. Saint Tatiana was a Christian martyr during the reign of Emperor Alexander Severus in 3-rd century.
According to the legend St. Tatiana was born in ancient Rome from rich and noble parents, who were secret Christians, when Rome was full of pagan temples and the public life was closely linked with religious rites and sacrifices for propitiating the gods. Her father, a former consul, educate his daughter in piety and fear of God and taught her the Holy Scriptures. When St. Tatiana reached the age of majority, she decided to spend her life in celibacy and chastity, as a bride of Christ. The miracles performed by Saint Tatiana when she was captured and cruelly tortured by the pagans, who forcing her to make a sacrifice to the idols, resulted in pronouncing of a death sentence and she was beheaded on January 12, around AD 225.
