Easter is the most important celebration of the Romanian people and is preceded by numerous rituals.
The Romanians start to paint the Easter eggs on Thursday. Initially the eggs were painted only in red colour, but in time were used other colors as yellow, green, blue and even black. In the villages, still the paint is obtaining from the plants.
For decorating of the traditional Easter eggs in Romania are used very thin round sticks, made of beech wood. At one end they have little pieces of linen or cotton, soaked in melted wax, for applying of the motifs on the surface of the eggs, as crosses, leaves of fir or oak, various plants and animals.
According to the Romanian tradition, if on Saturday before the Easter you place an egg on the garbage dump, you should guard it to not taken by any animal. If it will return for it, your wish will come true.
