Cecropia Moth Description: 
The Cecropia Moth, a giant silk moth or Robin moth (Hyalophora cecropia Linnaeus) is the largest and very colorful North American moth of the Saturniidae family. The females have a wingspan up to six inches (160 mm). The Cecropia Moth is widespread in Nova Scottia and Maine, south to Florida, west across southern Canada and the eastern United States, and as far west as the Rocky Mountains.
The cecropia moth which can be found in open areas with trees are mostly nocturnal species and are rarely seen in the day. Adults do not feed and live for a few weeks, with only purpose to mate.
Due to its impressive size, extremely showy appearance and hardiness, Hyalophora cecropia has become a favorite of collectors and is appreciated by nature lovers.
