Ded Moroz (Grandfather Frost) is fairy-tale character, a symbol of the New Year in Russia. He comes on New Year and with help of his granddaughter Snegurochka (Snow Maiden) leaves gifts under the Christmas tree for children who had good behaviour during the year. Ded Moroz (analogous to Santa Claus) was first appeared in Russia at the Christmas in 1910.
