Autumn landscape of a beautiful mysterious place with a fairy tiny Russian Orthodox Church, perched charmingly atop on a tiny stony island on Lake Vuoksa, on the boarder between Rusia and Finland, about two hours north of St. Petersburg. In spite of it seems like from fairy tale, this is modern miniature wooden chapel, dedicated to Holy Apostle Andrew the First (Andrei Pervozvanny), the patron saint of fishermen. This little gem was designed in the early 2000s by the Russian architect Andrei Rotinov, and was modeled on the famous Church of the Ascension at Kolomenskoye, a former royal estate in Moscow and is sometimes available for baptisms and weddings, by request in advance.
