King Penguins on Falkland Islands
Description: Two adorable King penguins waddling up the beach on the Falkland Islands, Atlantic ocean. The Falkland Islands are the furthest location north in the world where you can see these intelligent sea birds in their nature habitat. These penguins live in groups called colonies and huddle together for warmth. The King penguin is particularly unique subspecies because the females lay just one egg at a time and don’t make nests, two traits that are unusual for penguins. The male King penguin holds the egg on his feet under the warm fur on his belly and protects it from freezing. |
