Boletus Edulis (Porcini, Penny Bun, King Bolete, Cep, Porcino, Steinpilz) is one of the best known, highly prized edible mushrooms. They are widely distributed in autumn till mid of winter in soil under conifers (pines, spruce, fir) and oak forests in the Northern Hemisphere across Europe, Asia, and North America. Boletus Edulis are used as an ingredient in various foods as soups, pasta or risotto. They are low in fat and digestible carbohydrates, and high in protein, vitamins, minerals and dietary fiber, and retain their flavor after drying.
