The ceiling with mosaic of Christ Pantocrator under the central dome of the 'Church of the Resurrection of Christ' (known as 'Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood') in St.Petersburg Russia.
Chief architect of this masterpiece of the Russian Revival style is Alfred Alexandrovich Parland (1842-1919) of Scottish descent, born in St.Petersburg. The interior was designed by ones of the most celebrated Russian artists, as Viktor Vasnetsov, Mikhail Nesterov and Mikhail Vrubel.
The curch, besides as an architectural monument itself, is known for the largest exhibition of mosaics (over 7,000 sq.m.), including the Italian colored marble, Ural and Altai semiprecious stones and mosaic collections of Russian heraldry.
The walls and ceilings inside the church are completely covered in intricately detailed mosaics of biblical scenes or figures sett in very fine frames.
