Doha, the capital of Qatar is one of the richest cities in the world, with an amazing skyline that has changed from a pearl fishing village to skyscrapers, which catches the eye of travelers.
The things began to change from the 90s when the city started exploiting its natural gas reserves offshore.
Doha was founded in the 1820s as an offshoot of Al Bidda and was officially declared as the country's capital and main financial hub in 1971, when Qatar gained independence from being a British protectorate. Doha located on the Persian Gulf coast in the east of the country, north of Al Wakrah and south of Al Khor. It is also Qatar's fastest growing city, with over 80% of the nation's population living in Doha or its surrounding suburbs.
